The name A-WA is inspired by the Arabic slang aiwa which means YES!

We grew up in a very musical family so we've been singing and performing together since we were kids. A few
years back we naturally hooked up again at our parents' house and started recording new songs which gave us the inspiration to officially form a band together.

Who are the target group in your songs and what are your ideas for future?
We want and hope that many people will find our music fun and inspiring even if they don't understand the lyrics or they hear something like that for the first time.
Why did you choose your songs Yemeni accent?
We sing in a Yemeni dialect because our grandparents were born in Yemen and they used it, so growing up we used to listen to this kind of Yemenite music and fell in love with it, later on we decided to combine it with our other musical influences such as Reggae, Hip hop, electronic dance music and more.
How do you see your songs echo in general and the Yemen Arab community in particular?
We receive so many beautiful comments from Yemen Arab communities as well as heartwarming comments from people in America and Europe countries.
Yemeni heritage in your songs How did you draw inspiration from the modern with the ancient heritage of art?
As you can see in Habib Galbi video we combine elements of the Yemenite heritage with a modern twist not only in our music, but also in our visuals, our dancing and our outfits.
Future ambition and upcoming songs in albums?
Our goals for the future are mostly playing great shows and festivals around the world, collaborating with great inspiring musicians and artists, and recording our second album.
